MEHA Elects President »

Young Samanyika, the Malawian EHO who has visited Scotland twice in the last two years, has been elected as the first President of the re-launched Malawi Environmental Health Association (MEHA). Dr Steve Taulo was elected as the MEHA's Deputy President. Steve has also visited Scotland in recent years. The Institute offers MEHA its continued support and sends its best wishes to Young and Steve, and to Paul Chunga, Ben Mitochi and Kingsley Lungu who, along with many Malawian environmental health colleagues, have worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the re-launch.

Student EHO Training Officer Seminar »

 30 local authority Student EHO Training Officers participated in a seminar in Edinburgh on 11 February in Edinburgh. A series of excellent presentations covering the REHIS perspective, the training adviser’s perspective, the examiner perspective and the local authority perspective were given by Robert Howe (Director of Professional Development), Ian McGruther (Training Adviser), Graham Robertson (Examiner) and Tom Stirling (City of Edinburgh Council Student EHO Training Officer.

REHIS – 135th Birthday! »

20 January 2010 was the 135th anniversary of the establishment of the Sanitary Inspectors’ Association of Scotland - the Association is the original forebear of today’s Institute! The Association then became The Sanitary Association of Scotland in 1878, The Incorporated Sanitary Association of Scotland in 1902 and finally The Royal Sanitary Association of Scotland (RSAS) in 1924. The RSAS joined with The Scottish Institute of Environmental Health to form REHIS in 1983.
